Morwynne

Ruler: Unruled officially, but several guilds battle for control
Population: Moderate
Wealth: Varies
Law enforcement: Practically none
Education: Varies widely

Often referred to as the Undercity, Morwynne is a small district that few step foot in unless they know the streets and the people they contain very well. It is a city of cut-purses, prostitutes and other unsavoury folk, and though many of them make their trade in the other districts and just reside here, this is still very much not a safe place to dwell unless you are equally morally questionable. The Watchmen of Serenity have tried to bring order to Morwynne many times, but each time has resulted in fewer and fewer men returning to their families. This is a place where the guilds fight for control, slaves are common and the entertainment is often of the unsavoury variety.

The main guilds that base their operations in Morwynne are the thieves, whores, assassins, spies and slavers.

To those with the brains, brutality and balls to survive, living here can be exceptionally prosperous and result in many fine things. To those without, however, there is always a shadow darker than the others, and within that shadow lies someone waiting to stake their claim over their belongings, body or life.

Places of Interest

The Guildhall – The meeting place of the main guilds that operate within Morwynne, this place is often in a state of uproar. Plans between the guilds are often drawn up here, and when the district is threatened the leaders will often plot together to work out how best to eliminate it. However the bad blood between the guilds is deadly, and whilst violence is not condoned here there is nothing stopping it from being plotted, and murders on the doorstep are not uncommon things.

The Blue Lantern – A bawdy tavern owned by the whores guild, young ladies and gents alike dance for the crowds in the hopes of enticing them into one of the rooms upstairs, where their fee upscales dramatically. Many come here just to enjoy the music and alcohol, both of which are high class, but there can be little doubt that the bodies on offer are some of the finest in the land. The head of the house takes the safety of their stable very seriously; there is no money to be made on a dead whore, after all.

The Pit – A betting house in the heart of the district, the pit is infamous for its regular brutal fights. The primary fights are man against man, but dog and cock fights make regular appearances. Sometimes the owner of the house will invest in a special beast to fling into the pit, enjoying the extra income from the much higher bets.

Siren's Market – If you are looking for something that is illegal, dangerous or otherwise unsavoury, Siren's Market should be your first port of call. Weapons, drugs, secrets and services all have their price here, and even some of the wealthiest from the other districts sometimes send scouts undercover here looking for items they don't wish their allies to know they have obtained.

The Temple of the Masked Man – A small temple dedicated to the praise and worship of Neiat, this temple is the proud home of many illusionists and tricksters who ply their trade to raise funds for the temple. Thieves, assassins and others who use trickery and slight of hand to complete their work find themselves welcomed here, and will receive blessing in exchange for donations.

The Temple of Bones – Dedicated to the praise and worship of Fare, this large temple has been the scene of many murders and sacrifices alike. It's walls are donned with crimson and black silks, and the symbol of the two headed dragon hangs proudly over the altar. The priests here are highly guarded and highly respected, and often give their blessings to those carrying out chaos and destruction in the name of Fare.

Church of Fayd – A small church dedicated to the praise and worship of Fayd, fires are kept constantly burning here and the air is hot and humid. Regular sacrifices of plant life, trees and animals are made to Fayd here, and the priests consider it a great honour to be burned alive when their time is reaching its end, believing their souls to become one with their deity.

New Places of Interest

New places of interest can be added to this listing. If you have an idea for a new place of interest to add to this district, please fill out the following and send it in a PM to Sam. If it is suitable and fitting for the setting and that particular district, it will be added to the list above. Places of interest that have a lot of threads being set in them may be given their own sub-board within the district.
